Nesting

You guys. I have the worst timing ever. We are in the midst of probably our busiest week of the summer. We had a music festival this past Friday and Saturday that my two oldest girls and I played with our orchestra. Yesterday we started Vacation Bible School at church. That runs through Thursday. We also have our regular Jiu-Jitsu schedule this week, but it will be vamped up a little bit because of a tournament this weekend. RaeLynne is very excited about the tournament this weekend. I can’t wait to watch her! Then Father’s Day is Sunday. Then we have a meeting on Monday night that I will tell you about later. We are also doing our normal work routines as well. We have absolutely no down time this week. And guess what I decided to do this week on top of all that? Nest. Yes. I have, all of a sudden, decided that I have an immediate and non-suppressible need to nest.

Now, I know I probably don’t really have that much to do with when my body decides it’s time to nest, but really? Did I have to pick this week? My body has no idea what it’s doing! I hope I don’t fall apart! I’m supposed to see my doctor for a regular appointment this week. I hope she doesn’t get mad at me for everything I’m working on. I guess we’ll see how it goes!

What does nesting even mean? I don’t know if there is an actual scientific definition for it. It is different for everyone. It has actually been different for me with each of my babies. With my oldest, my nesting was getting settled into a new apartment in a whole new city that I had never been to before. That was quite the mess. With my first son, I was ripping carpet out of our house. I have never liked having carpet because it can be so gross, but that week took the cake. I decided one day after work that I had had enough of the carpet in our house. I ripped all the carpet out of the hallway, living room, and dining room. My husband wasn’t quite sure what to think when he got home that weekend…

Why do we even have this stage of pregnancy? I’ve never completely understood it. But, it’s kind of nice in a way! I’ve gotten some pretty good work done during my nesting days. I’m starting off somewhat slow today though. I had big plans to get a lot done today. I’m working from home, so that helps things a little, but it kind of also inhibits. I have all the kids home with me, and they are more than a little crazy today. I’m also helping Laiyla with school stuff today. But, I have made some progress. I’ve gotten most of my work duties done for the week. That takes a huge load off for the rest of the week as long as everything goes as planned. I’ve gotten some of Laiyla’s papers corrected and put into the grade book. I’ve gotten almost all the laundry done too. That can be a huge feat in itself! I have my fourth load ready to go into the washer as soon as it’s available.

That seems like a lot, but it’s not nearly as much as I was hoping for today. I still need to hang up all the kids’ clothes, do the dishes, get some things ready for the baby, work on packing my hospital bag, get some soap made, list some sale items online, and do some more research on a few things… just to name a few. And my house is still a disaster, so I would love to get it cleaned. I don’t think that’s going to happen today though! Oh, well! Hopefully tomorrow will be better and more accomplished!

I’m going to get back to work now. I hope you all have a great week!
